Myself and six other Bournemouth and Poole based childrens entertainers pooled all our different talents to put on a show at Poole High School Theatre. The show was to help fund-raise for a local charity Amelia’s Rainbow.
A charity started by Karl and Chantel Cox in memory of their daughter Amelia who passed away in 2010 of Neuroblastoma.
We meet regularly to chat about the business of entertaining children as well as organising evenings out. We have all built a great friendship and often will recommend each other for parties and events if we are not able to fill the booking.
Months of planning, sharing ideas and publicising the show resulted in a sell out show to 300 Mums. Dads and children attending the first “BEN Family Variety Show“
We entertained the audience with a mix of comedy, magic, balloon modelling, juggling and audience participation and lots more. The show was a huge success with all proceeds from ticket sales going to Amelia’s Rainbow
The acts, Mr Merlin, Jamie Jigsaw, Krazy Kev, Philip Dixon (Get Up and Groove), Jules the Entertainer, Jamie Jambo, Pete Matthews & myself.
You can see from the photos we had a lot of fun and the audience were all very complimentary and eager for us to repeat the show.
At Party Time For Kids we would like to wish you a very Happy New Year.
Maybe a bit late but catching after a busy schedule of Christmas and Birthday parties.
2016 was another busy year and a big thank you to the new clients who have booked me for their children’s party. Also a large amount of parents returning to us to rebook or to entertain a brother or sister of previous birthday child. More new schools have been added to our regular roster of end of term events. These are mostly recommendations from a birthday party. We have added new themes due to high demand including Trolls and for older children our super cool UV/Neon parties have been a great success.
We are always looking for ways to improve or add to our list of childrens themed parties and are working on a best friends Teddys Bears Picnic Birthday party especially for the little ones.
Here at Party time For Kids in Bournemouth we have seen a huge increase in bookings for childrens themed birthday parties. With the release of Star Wars “The Force Awakens” at Christmas, requests for a Star Wars themed party far exceeds any other request. I have been entertaining with this popular theme across Dorset and Hampshire for the last 10 years and have built up a list of fun games to go with the theme.
All the children are put into teams which include Jedi Knights v Storm Troopers
The list of games includes Hunt the Moon Rock – Use The Force Light Sabar Competition – Pump Up The Alien – Star Wars Runaround and many more.
Add to that a collection of Star Wars life size cut-outs – these are great for photo opportunities for the children and the parents.
Following on the heels of Star Wars are those loveable yellow people ‘The Minions’.
Featured in the “Despicable Me “movies, the little guys are a huge favourite with children and parents alike. As always, we have a selection of lifesize cardboard minions for photo party memories.
We know that The Minions love bananas and we have a bunch of inflatable ones for a host of fun party games! There is also a version of Musical Statues with Gru and his Phart gun that can freeze you! (you have to have seen the movie)
Pirates and Princesses is always a firm favourite with children. The girls can either wear one of their lovely princess dresses or don a pirate costume. It’s always great fun to see the boys with their painted on 5 o’clock shadows and false beards. Popular games will include Sharks / Port Starboard / Treasure Hunt / Walk The Plank.
Normally the birthday star is made to feel very special in class at their school. Why not follow that through with an after school midweek birthday party celebration . You will find there will not be a shortage of helpers (Mums) who will be on hand at the party.
You could even make it a joint party with double the celebration but half the cost and the work.
I’m able to cater for Key Stage 1 & 2 with a mixture of music and games to suit the different age groups. With a Christmas set up with themed Xmas games and my lovely elf outfit it was a successful list of bookings. And I know that they have all booked again for this year’s summer and Christmas discos.
So a big thank you to – Dance School Born to Perform – Barton On Sea Golf Club- 1st Bishopdown Brownies – Park School – Blandford British Legion – Tesco Southampton – Ashley School New Milton – Kingsworthy School Winchester – Longfleet School Poole – West Downland Primary School Fordingbridge .
It has been a very busy few weeks which have included end of term school discos which as always I look forward to. The children are always very excited looking forward to their summer holidays but it’s also time to say good bye to Year 6 who at most of the regular schools I have known since reception.
Every school is different and in my work it can vary from performing for Key Stage 1 to a much livelier Key Stage 2. I have added a Game Show format which has been a very big hit for Key Stage 2 which is a handful of fun games between Boys & Girls. This helps to add to the fun as well as playing all the children’s favourite pop songs.
I now have a few regular Year 6 leavers parties which are always very special not only for the children but for the parents as well. But I make sure the party always ends on a high note and not too many tears.People will know I do specialise in Special Needs parties and have regular work from Diverse Abilities (Poole) , Montacute School (Poole ) & Kids in (Winchester). It was a welcome return to Montacute School for the end of term presentation awards and a party to finish.
So it’s a big thank you to Winton Primary, Dunottar School (Dorking), Broughton Primary School, Longfleet School, West Downland School Fordingbridge, North Baddesley School & Muscliffe Primary School.
Childrens themed parties are still very popular with Frozen still leading the way for the girls and Avengers Superheros for the boys. With the new Minion movie breaking box office records this has now been added to our list of theme parties and is already proving to be a big hit.
New for older children is a Neon/UV party which is very cool. I will bring along some very high quality UV lighting and with the effect of a blacked out venue all neon and white stands out to great effect.
News in the pipe line from Marvel and Disney with sequels on the way for Frozen & The Avengers.
For girls and a few boys “Frozen” has been a phenomenon with not one but two princesses and some lovely characters including Olaf the snowman and of course some brilliant songs.
Not since the days of High School Musical has a movie captured the imagination of children who want a party featuring the elements from their favourite movie. Before the sequel finally arrives there is a 7 minute short called Frozen Fever and can only be seen at the moment with the live version of Cinderella.
Marvel Studios presents “Avengers: Age of Ultron,” the epic follow-up to the biggest Super Hero movie of all time. When Tony Stark tries to jumpstart a dormant peacekeeping program, things go awry and Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, including Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, The Incredible Hulk, Black Widow and Hawkeye, are put to the ultimate test as the fate of the planet hangs in the balance. As the villainous Ultron emerges, it is up to The Avengers to stop him from enacting his terrible plans, and soon uneasy alliances and unexpected action pave the way for an epic and unique global adventure
As with all our popular themed children parties we supply a huge range of life-size cutouts which are great for photo opportunities.
As you can see we always have our fingers on the pulse for the latest film trend and will turn that into a great children’s birthday party.
During the summer months I also host and entertain at various events across the South West at Holiday parks, including Bird World and The Swanage Festival.
